Come join the Antelope Butte Foundation for the 4th Annual Antelope Butte Summer Festival!

Antelope Butte Foundation is holding this summer festival to benefit funding the re-opening of Antelope Butte Ski and Recreation Area in the Bighorn Mountains.

There will be camping, running and biking events, music, food and beverages and lots of games and contests.

It's going to be a great party! Grab your family, your tent or RV, lawn chairs and popup tents, and don't forget your running shoes or your bike! Hope to see you all there!

Run Course Details:

Butte Grind 4M 

Start:  Antelope Butte     Elevation 8440

End:    Antelope Butte

The course climbs on jeep trails for about 1.5 miles where it levels out for about .5 mile and then descends  for a gradual downhill on the XC ski trails to the finish at The Butte.  A very enjoyable course for Adults and Youth.  Walkers Welcome.

Butte Grind  8M

Start:  Antelope Butte    Elevation 8440

End:  Antelope Butte

The course climbs on jeep trails for about 3 miles where it merges with FS Road 277.  It follows the road for about 2 miles and turns to the NW on FS Road 279 where the course descends rapidly back to the Antelope Butte Finish Line.  The course is moderate in difficulty recommended for runners and walkers of all abilities. 

Butte Grind 15.5M

Start:  Antelope Butte   Elevation 8440

End:  Antelope Butte

The course climbs jeep trails for about  5 miles to a high point of 9650 on FS Road 278.  At the high point the course descends into the Willett drainage.  After crossing Willett Creek you will climb out of the drainage onto road 277  merging on to FS 270 and descending rapidly back to the Antelope Butte Finish Line. 

Butte Grind 31M Course

Follows the 16 mile course counter clockwise (opposite direction)  Total distance 31 miles

Butte Grind Dualthlon:

4M run and 8 M Bike. Follows the 4M run course and 8M Bike course.

Starts: Antelope Butte Ski Area
Ends: Antelope Butte Ski Area

Bike Course Details: 

Advanced race consists of two laps:

 1st Lap follows the 8 mile mountain bike course. 

 

2nd Lap goes up road 245 at Antelope Butte and is the same climb for the 8 mile race (elevation gain of 600 feet over 3 miles), at the road 277 junction turn let heading North West of dirt road slightly downhill descent for 1 mile, Hard right on to single track at the gravel pit on 277, follow this trail for 3 miles (great view as you border South Tongue River West Fork) to road 278, descend 278 to road 314417 (hard left turn onto a 4x4 road - fast and fun), connects with 277, for the next couple miles it parallels the first lap until reach the abandoned road up Antelope Butte off of Road 279, Climb ½ mile up Antelope Butte, follow the ridge above the ski resort connecting to the top chair lift, descent down the cat walks for Antelope Butte Ski Area, ends where the race started.

 

Total mileage = 20.1 miles (approx.)

Total Vertical = 4,216 (2084 climbing and 2,131 downhill)

Beginning Elevation = 8,445

Highest Elevation = 9,646

8.0 miles of jeep trails

Does not include the Shell Canyon single track

Start: Antelope Butte

End: Antelope Butte

Starts at an elevation of about 8440 ft. and climbs for about 3.7 miles to 9330 ft.  It then descends the south side of Granite Creek drainage back to the start / finish line at Antelope Butte.
