The second annual Darlington Marathon, scheduled for Sept. 27, 2014, is an event becoming steeped in racing tradition following in the footsteps of its famed host, Darlington Raceway. The marathon starts at the iconic NASCAR-sanctioned race track in Darlington, S.C. and makes it way through the city, which features five historical districts and the beautiful Williamson Park. The event concludes on the start-finish line at the track considered Too Tough To Tame
Race weekend starts on Friday evening with a 5K race and 1.366 Dash (1 lap around the NASCAR Raceway track).
On Saturday morning you may choose from a marathon, marathon relay, or half marathon. The course passes through all 5 of Darlington's Historic Districts: St. Johns, Cashua-Spring Streets, Darling Industrial, West Broad Street, and the Darlington Downtown Historic Districts. Both the half marathon and marathon courses finish with a lap around the NASCAR Darlington Raceway.
Relay teams can include 2 to 4 members with each member running 6.1, 13.2, or 19.3 miles for a total of 26.2 miles. Teams will enjoy a day-long party as they exchange batons and run their segments of the course.
