A mountain bike race consisting of primarily single-track riding with a fair amount of climbing and descending. There will be a "long" race that is 2 laps around 20-23 miles and a "short" race that will be 11-13 miles.
Ride "The Highlander" Mountain Bike Race is a real mountain bike race, on real mountain bike trails, created by real mountain bikers, for real mountain bikers. Don't miss this opportunity on September 24th, 2016 at 11 am, to race on some of Northern Michigan's most premiere mountain bike trails with some of the area's top racers. Our 7-9 mile loop along with road rollout and singletrack return will take you through some of Northern Michigan's most scenic and challenging trails. With natural features and man-made features this race course will have it's share of challenges for every style rider at every level. The "long" racer will consist of two laps around this gorgeous track and the "short" race will do one lap. We can't wait to rub tires and share some dirt with you this September.
The FREE kids race will be 4 different age breakdowns
1. Under 6: This will be a short course on pavement for kids with Striders, scooters, and training wheels and starts at 2 pm.
2. Under 11: This will consist of multiple laps around the pond and will be around a quarter to a half mile and starts at 2:05 pm.
3. Under 16: This will consist of some singletrack and will be 2 to 5 miles long. Some sections will not be visible from spectator area and will start at 2:15 pm.
4. Short Youth Race: This is one lap on the regular course just like the adults and will take place at the SAME TIME as the adult race
