HOW TO USE THE FUNDRAISING FEATURE

Let's get started

REGISTER FOR YOUR EVENT AND CREATE YOUR ITS YOUR RACE ACCOUNT

  • Find your event on ITS YOUR RACE and click the REGISTER NOW button
  • Select your ticket(s), login to or create your ITS YOUR RACE account and register for the event
  • Once you have successfully registered for your event, you'll see a pop-up window that tells you that we've automatically created your fundraising page.    Click on the link "YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGE" to get started with editing your page.

*If you are NOT registering for the event, but you still want to become a fundraiser, or if someone else registered you for this event, follow these instructions.*

*If you chose to check out as a GUEST when you registered for your event, and did not create an ITS YOUR RACE account, you will need to do this in order to claim and edit your fundraising page.  You will receive a pop up window to "ENTER A PASSWORD" for your account on ITS YOUR RACE.  Once you do this, you will be taken directly to your fundraising page.

Edit Your PAge

Once you have successfully registered for your event, you'll see a pop-up window that tells you that we've automatically created your fundraising page.    Click on the link "YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGE" to get started with editing your page.

  1. Click the button to EDIT YOUR PAGE
  2. Your Username is automatically generated by ITS YOUR RACE when you register.  You can change this if you'd like, and your Fundraising Page URL that you send to your friends and family will automatically adjust
  3. Your Page Title can be your name, or you can come up with a creative title for your personal fundraising campaign such as "I'm Raising Money on Behalf of Jane Doe's Battle to Fight Breast Cancer"
  4. ALLOW CONTRIBUTORS TO VIEW AND DONATE ON YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGE should almost always be set to YES, but if you find that you'd like to turn off your fundraising page, you can always come to this setting and select NO and save it.
  5. ALLOW CONTRIBUTORS TO SEARCH FOR YOUR FUNDRAISING PAGE should also almost always be set to YES, but if you do not want your fundraising efforts to be made public, you can turn this off
  6. SHOW LIST OF CONTRIBUTORS - This is a personal preference.  When a person makes a donation, they choose whether to include their name or make the donation anonymously.  You can choose whether or not to publish that list on your page.  This can sometimes encourage others to donate if they see who donated and what amounts are being donated.
  7. TELL YOUR CONTRIBUTORS ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHY YOU'RE FUNDRAISING - We allow you to enter custom text and images, or copy and paste directly from a webpage.  Here are some tips for getting more donations:
    1. Do you have a truly personal story to share?  (A mission trip you experienced, a loved one that's battling an illness, a personal relationship with the person or group that funds are being raised for).  Why are you participating in this event and raising money for this fundraising campaign, and what does the cause mean to you?
    2. Adding great photos that show what donations will be used to do or who they will help will allow people to visualize what the cause is about and connect more with their donation.  Here's a quick video on how to add photos to your fundraising campaign.
    3. Tell people exactly where their donations will go and what their money will be used to do.
  8. Be sure to SAVE YOUR PAGE once you've set it up!

Team fundraising

If your event has TEAMS enabled and you opted to create a team during your event registration, a TEAM FUNDRAISING page will be created automatically along with your individual fundraising page.  You can edit your team fundraising page using the same instructions above.

WHY TEAM FUNDRAISING?

  1. Allows co-workers, clubs, groups, churches and more to come together with their fundraising efforts
  2. An overall TEAM GOAL for fundraising can be established and challenges team members to collectively work toward that goal
  3. Events may choose to award the highest fundraising individuals and teams
