Pecan Orchard Run Fundraising

Woodfield Academy is a private day school for students with diagnosed learning differences in grades 2 through 12. The academy provides two academic tracks; one for students with average to superior ability, and an additional track, the Rivoli School, designed for learners with more significant developmental and cognitive disorders. Approximately 25% of the total student population are on the Rivoli School academic track.

The proceeds from the Pecan Orchard Run will benefit the Woodfield Academy Nature-Smart Curriculum Project.

Woodfield is ever-evolving in its programs and educational approach based on the particular needs presented by our students. Since 2012, we have been working in partnership with the Wesleyan College Center for Educational Renewal, implementing practices and activities that promote increased student contact with nature and the natural world. Based on a large and growing body of scientific research, the vision for the future of Woodfield is to become a nature-based day school for students with learning differences. We are transforming our campus into useful outdoor learning and therapeutic space, providing professional learning opportunities for faculty and administration, and redesigning our curriculum to be more nature-smart.

Woodfield has adopted a master site plan that addresses this vision and details a three-phase project for the campus transformation. We are currently seeking funding support for this important endeavor.
