The 21st running of the Pratt & Whitney Take Flight 5K to Benefit United Way is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11th at 5:30 pm.
Together – through generous donations of employees, families, and friends in our community – we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut and are looking to beat last year’s funds raised. The Course:
Though runners and walkers will no longer able to venture out on the old Rentschler Airfield runway due to commercial development of the property the event planning team has developed a NEW GRAVEL-FREE course that is centered around Pratt & Whitney Stadium and utilizes the new roadway that will take runners out on what used to be the old Rentschler Airfield. Like the old course, the new course is flat and fast!
Race will be held rain or shine. For safety, dogs, bicycles, skateboards, and roller/inline skates are not permitted. Jogging strollers are permitted and will start in a separate wave with the walkers behind the runners.

Overall male and female Top male and female in each age group Fastest 5K team (top three members of team, with team size unlimited)The biggest competitions at the Take Flight 5K are the Top Fundraising Individuals and Teams! Awards will be given to the top 3 individual fundraisers and top 3 fundraising teams. Whether you want to pull a team together with co-workers, friends, or family, the choice is yours. Teams may include runners and walkers and all teams are automatically entered in our fastest team (5K times only) and top fundraising team competitions.The Swag:
