Proceeds will go to support the efforts of Wild at Heart Rehabilitation

Wild At Heart is an all-volunteer, non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to caring for orphaned and injured native wildlife in the Upstate of South Carolina. The organization has two main goals: to rescue, rehabilitate and return all animals to their natural habitat whenever possible and to educate the general public in becoming more aware and understanding of our wildlife and environment.

Wild at Heart is comprised 100% of volunteers and has no paid staff. They do not receive any City, County, State or Federal funding and rely totally on donations from the general public to care for the wildlings. So, what does that cost? Usually, it requires $17,000 to $20,000 to keep Wild at Heart running every year. In 2017, they received $7,200 in public donations, meaning owners Mike and Linda Hoskinson do fund most of the rescue out of their personal accounts. Hopefully, we can work to change this – one of Wild at Heart’s 2018 goals is to become self-sufficient, meaning they raise enough money through fundraising to cover 100% of their annual costs.

Taking in approximately 365 animals (one per day!) in one year is no small task, especially when you're a rescue comprised of only two people. In 2017, Wild at Heart received forty different species of animals, including American Crows, Barn Owls, Barred Owls, Black Vultures, Chipmunks, Cooper's Hawks, Woodpeckers, Eastern Cottontails, Ferrets, Great Horned Owls, Little Brown Bats, Ospreys, Pot-Bellied Pigs, Raccoons, a Red Fox, Skunks, and Opossums. The most common? The Red-Tailed Hawk and Striped Skunk, by far.

Wild at Heart has a success rate of 76%, meaning that the majority of animals picked up are either transferred for advanced medical care, currently pending in care at Wild at Heart, or successfully released back into habitat. To continue or improve this rate, Wild at Heart desperately needs your help through fundraisers such as Where the Wild Things Run!

Fun for the whole family and this is a Pet Friendly event.
