Freedom Machines NY has decided for the safety of our racer to change the Freedom Machines Prospect Mountain Hill Climb to a Virtual Race. The race was originally scheduled for Sunday May 16th.
Who is Freedom Machines?
Freedom Machines NY is a designated 501c(3) not-for-profit organization that provides free bicycles to people who are committed to recovering from their addiction to drugs or alcohol.
People can lose sight of what is truly important to them when lost in the throes of addiction. Their families, friends, careers and independence can all suffer terribly before finally beginning the recovery process.
We here at Freedom Machines NY understand how difficult it can be to begin this journey. We want to help anyone who is committed to recovering from their addiction to drugs or alcohol by providing the freedom of transportation.
We are committed to the belief that someone who is working to better themselves deserves a little help and support from their community.
That’s why we provide refurbished bicycles to those in the recovery process at absolutely no cost to the individual. We have bikes for people of every shape and size, and can offer one per person after 90 days of sobriety.
About the Event.
This event is to promote and grow cycling in the North Country! Your entry fees will be donated to Freedom Machines. The timed hill climb up the Prospect Mountain Auto Road will test yours leg on a beautiful closed roadway.
Prospect Auto Road Hill Climb: This 5 miles closed road will bring you up 1523' of vertical with the best views in the area!
The time trial will be individual with no drafting. Please stay to the right on your way up the hill unless you are passing. Center line rule is in effect.
The Course:
The Official race starts even with the toll gate at the bottom of the Prospect Mountain Highway in Lake George, NY. The Couse finishes at the the top of Prospect Mountain highway Just at the entrance to the stairs on the right hand side of the highway and beginning of the crosswalk.
How does it work? 3 Easy Steps:
- Register any time before May 24th. 100% of your entry fee will go directly to Freedom Machines.
- Bike the course outlined below any time between May 10th – May 24th. Note: All current local municipality Stay at Home orders allow us to bike outdoor (observing Social Distancing guidelines).
- Submit your Time. Time your bike race on your own (with a watch, GPS or an app like MapMyRun or Strava) and then go to http://itsyourrace.com/ and sign in. Go to the Freedom Machines Race Page and manually enter your time in the race results. We are on an honor system here as this is a charity race.
- Results will be posted on Monday May 25th.
