C4 Mountain Bike Race REVIVED!
After the last two years of the original C4 (Cave Creek Cactus Classic) being cancelled by the D.F.M.B.A, the locals are taking the race back. The “new” C4 (Captain Cosmo’s Crazy Challenge) is being hosted by the only person to be a part of C4 since its inception 14 years ago: Kaolin Cosmo Cummens, owner of Flat Tire Bike Shop in Cave Creek.
C4 is revived with a 2022 course redesign. This version includes the full Maricopa Trail Connection from Spur Cross to Cave Creek Park, and now features the Flume Trail exit out onto New River Rd for a spectator-friendly sprint finish. Trail conditions are extremely ROUGH this time around, hence the usage of “challenge” in the event name. This is not gonna be your PR year, that’s for sure. Record-setting monsoons coupled with scanty trail upkeep has led to much rockier conditions.

We’ve got an official Police and moto lead-out from downtown Cave Creek for a 9am start. The post-race festivities will bring live music and free food and beverages (yes BEER!) to all racers. Awards are handmade by KCC and the Single Speed Category winner WILL even be tattooed on site before the podium once again (don’t want the tattoo…..do NOT win!)
We simply could not allow the C4 to strike out a third year. THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION to be a real local and show your support for C4. Get registered NOW! This year’s race was produced by only a few people, at the buzzer, and we made the shot!
Race proceeds benefit the amazing local group, Arizona Foothills 911, that provides FAST civilian support and help for emergency situations here in our area. Sunny Parker, who runs the nonprofit, will be onsite to chat!
Cash payouts to overall men’s and women’s podiums are provided (donated) by local businesses and do not come out of the race fee at all. Every penny raised through registration has been spent and will be spent to simply produce the C4 race this year (insurance, barricades, venue, timing, etc.). With short planning time due to the D.F.M.B.A. cancellation being so close to the race date, certain things had to be jettisoned. Sadly, there was no time to prepare t-shirts, belt buckles, pint glasses, patches, hats, etc. In place of these items, there will be a better community party with food, beer, entertainment and lots of more LOVE!

AWARDS
The first five (5) female and male riders across the finish line, whatever age group, will receive cash prizes. In addition, the top three riders in each age group receive awards.
Single Speed WINNER will get a tattoo directly after for their award!
