Wet N' Wild Triathlon

The Wet n' Wild Triathlon consists of two events this year. A Sprint Tri and a Newbie Tri. The Wet n' Wild is being held at the Portland Community Center. The swim portion of the Tri will be held in the outdoor heated Community Center pool for all the events. This Tri is being presented by The Corpus Christi Triathlon Club (formerly known as STARRS). A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit Collins Hope. Timing for the event will be by Pendgo Timing.

Time:  8:30AM Estimated Start Time (Transition opens at 6:30AM)

The Sprint / Newbie Tri will start after the Youth Splash and Dash has been completed.  The Youth Splash and Dash starts at 8:00AM.

Location:  Portland Community Center, 2000 Billy G Webb, Portland, TX 78374

Events:
Sprint Tri -  300 yard Swim, 14 mile Bike (one loop) and 5K Run (one loop) for Ages 15 and Up
Newbie Tri -  150 yard Swim, 6 mile Bike (one loop) and 1 mile Run (one loop) for Ages 15 and Up
Sprint Tri Relay -  300 yard Swim, 14 mile Bike and 5K Run for Ages 15 and Up.  Minimum relay team size is two (2) people.  Maximum relay team size is three (3) people.  Relay teams may be all Male, all Female or Mixed (Male and Female).

The Newbie Tri is designed for those individuals who have not previously done a Tri or those who are not ready to attempt a Sprint Tri.  Newbie allows individuals to "Try a Tri" or just continue working on their Tri skills.  If you have always wanted to do a Tri, the Newbie is for you!

Awards:
Sprint Tri Individual -  Overall Male / Female and Overall Masters Male / Female (40 and Up) plus 1st / 2nd / 3rd Male and Female age groups.
Newbie Tri Individual - Overall Male / Female (15 to 39) and Overall Masters Male / Female (40 and Up)
Sprint Tri Relay - 1st / 2nd / 3rd Overall Relay Team

Age Groups:
Sprint Tri - (15-19), (20-24), (25-29), (30-34), (35-39), (40-44), (45-49),
(50-54), (55-59), (60-64), (65-69), (70+)
Newbie Tri - No age group awards for Newbie
Relay Tri - No Age group awards for Relay

Age Exemption:  Individuals under the Age of 15 MAY be able to participate if they receive permission from the Race Director.  The Race Director has final authority over participation in the event.

Swim Course:
The swim will be held entirely in the outdoor heated Community Center Pool.  The swim will be an individual time trial start with the order determined on the morning of the event.  Athletes will enter the water and be started by the Timer at an interval of approximately every 20 seconds.

Bicycle and Helmet Requirements:  You must use a helmet that has a chin strap and buckle. Your bicycle must have working front and rear brakes.  Your handle bars on your bicycle must also have bar end plugs.  If you have any concerns about your bicycle, please take your bicycle to Bay Area Bike and Tri for a "Bike Check".

The Sprint Tri Bike/Run will be the same course as last years Boo Bash Tri.  The Newbie Tri Bike/Run will also be the same as last years Boo Bash Tri.

One Day USAT Membership:
You MUST be covered by USAT supplemental insurance to participate in this Triathlon; NO Exceptions.  You are covered by USAT insurance if you are a member of USAT.  If you are not a member of USAT, you must purchase a one day membership to USAT.

The one day membership for USAT is $12 for Adults ages 18 and up and $10 for Youth ages 17 and under.  If you are not a USAT member, you can purchase your one day membership when you register for the event.  You can also purchase your one day membership at packet pickup.  

The registration fee shown above for the event does not include the one day membership for USAT or the cost of a USAT membership.  The $12 fee or the $10 fee is collected by The Corpus Christi Triathlon Club on behalf of USAT.

Packet Pickup:
Packet Pickup will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Bay Area Bicycles from 11am to 6pm. Please make note of the end time for Packet Pickup: 6pm.   Bay Area Bicycles is located at 6020 SPID, Corpus Christi, TX 78411.  Bay Area Bicycles is located in the Gulfway Shopping Center at Airline and SPID.  According to USAT Rules, each participant must pickup their own packet. If you have extremely special circumstances and cannot pickup your packet, please contact the Race Director in advance.

Remember to bring your USAT membership card to packet pickup if you are a member.  If you do not have your USAT card with you at packet pickup you will be required to purchase a one day USAT membership to obtain your packet.  All participants must bring some form of governmental ID card to packet pickup.

Timing:  
Pendgo Timing will provide timing for the Newbie and Sprint Triathlon.  You will be issued a timing chip with a velcro strap the morning of the event.  You must wear your timing chip on your Left ankle during the entire event.  For relay teams, you will exchange the timing chip in transition at the location where your bicycle is racked.  Pendgo Timing is a local company that hires local people who live and work in your community.
