Take in the fresh air, spring flowers, and forest views as you run or walk our fun and challenging course. This is friendly Dog/Dog friendly event. After the race, explore all that our town has to offer – art galleries, boutiques, gourmet restaurants, and more!  If you still have energy after the run, Idyllwild is surrounded by hiking trails, some of the best rock climbing in the U.S., and miles of mountain bike terrain.  Or you can choose to recover while fishing at one of the nearby lakes.  There is a variety of accommodations available, from camping to upscale lodging.   However you choose to spend your race weekend, we know you will enjoy the picturesque course and the charming town of Idyllwild!

5K Race 7:15 am  -   10K Race 8:00 am    -  1/2 Mils Kids' Run (7 and under) 9:15 am

 

AWARDS

The top male and female finishers overall in the 5K & 10K runs will receive special awards and custom medallions, as will the top male and female competitors in the fitness walk. Awards will be given to the top 3 Male & Female in each age group for the runs, and for the top 5 overall M & F in the 5K walk.  All kids in the half-mile fun run will receive an award at the finish line.

 Volkslauf Team 5K (5 racers must finish together in matching shirts) The first team across wins $100 towards the school or charity of their choice and a $100 Big 5 certificate.

The first place womens team wins $100 towards the school or charity of their choice and a $100 Big 5 certificate (one team cannot win both).

5K Age Groups: 9 & Under; 10-12; 13-15; 16-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80 & Over

10K Age Groups: 15 & Under; 16-19; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34; 35-39; 40-44; 45-49; 50-54; 55-59; 60-64; 65-69; 70-74; 75-79; 80 & Over

The post-race awards ceremony will feature a pancake breakfast & other goodies presented by the Idyllwild PTA at the Town Hall from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m. Only $8 for adults and $5 for children under twelve. Tickets may be purchased day-of-race or at the packet pick-up and registration Friday night before the race.  Proceeds benefit the Idyllwild School PTA program. Tickets for the PTA breakfast may be purchased day-of-race or at the packet pick-up and registration Friday night before the race.

Event proceeds to benefit  Idyllwild School's Physical Education Program (K-8)

With more than 35years of presenting this race, the Idyllwild Race Committee (501c3) has donated a total of over $70,000.00 to the Idyllwild School athletic and physical education program.  This has enabled the school to purchase a scoreboard, indoor climbing wall, PE equipment, team uniforms, coaching fees, and a portable sound system.  The school has even been able to equip an entire fitness lab for students funded entirely from the proceeds of the race.
