2019 will be the third annual 5k to take place during the Hillbilly Daze Parade and festival. The course is certified, and the race will be digitally timed. Awards will be handed out to the top three men and women who achieve overall, and 3 deep in 15 age groups. Everyone who pre-registers will receive a t-shirt.
The Hillbilly Daze parade and festival is a special time for hundreds of people from Witts Springs and surrounding communities. The Witts Springs volunteer fire department, local law inforcement, and other emergency personel, along with the local hillbillies all get together to remember our armed forces and celebrate our community. They do this with a long parade. Buckets of candy come flying out of fire truck and tractor. It is a special time for children and adults alike. Following the parade, food and drinks are offered to everyone for a small contribution.
The 5k followed naturally from the festive atmosphere and will start at 8:00 A.M., followed by awards at 9:00 A.M. After the 5k, a children's parade starts off at 10:00 A.M. , the main parade at 11:00 A.M., and the meal.
The 5k will be a certified course, digitally timed race. Awards will be handed out to all participants, but we will provide special prises to the top 3 in Male and Female categories. Everyone who pre-registers will receive a t-shirt.
