Juneteenth is the celebration commemorating the end of slavery in the United States on June 19th, 1865. General Gordon Granger led 2,000 Union soldiers to Galveston, Texas with the news that slaves were now free. This news was kept from the 250,000 slaves for two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Rochester, the home of Frederick Douglass, is the perfect place to host this annual run/walk!
The 5K race will start and finish at Genesee Valley Park. The official start time is set for 6:00pm using USATF Certified Course #NY14904KL.
