13K (8-Miler) on country roads & trails; 5K on country roads; Kids 1K in park. Formerly known as the W8. Chip timing for all. Grassroots running at its best!
The Dave Down Bridge Hospice Run -- 8-Miler, 5K and Kids 1K -- offers a chance to get out of the city and return to the roots of running -- right in the heart of the Northumberland hills.
Enjoy the fresh autumn air and take your feet for a tour on rolling country roads and natural trails. This event offers something for all ages and abilities.
Now in its 15th year, our races are well-organized by veteran runners and an experienced community volunteer team. And everyone (including the kids!) are timed by Splits Timing.
Beautiful and challenging, the 8-Miler (13K) is on paved backroads with some trails. The 5K is all on paved roads. The Kids 1K is on playing fields. This is grassroots running at its best!
The personal touch extends across the finish line, where great prizes fresh home-baked goodies await.
The Dave Down Bridge Hospice Run (formerly W8) honours the legacy of local hero Dave Down, who did much for so many. The event is a fundraiser for The Bridge Hospice. Serving Northumberland County and greater region, this extraordinary 3-bed home is a warm and welcoming place where people in their final days receive compassionate care and their loved ones are supported -- all at no charge.
