Get ready to Bake at the Lake, and cool down inside the Wilmington Athletic Club! The courses are mostly shaded and travel over paved running trails around Greenfield Lake and include some small wooden bridges. The event features custom awards and very nice shirts. Awards presentation and post race party takes place inside the Wilmington Athletic Club with locker rooms and inside bathrooms available - warm for the race and cool for the post race activities.
This mid-summer event will test your medal and give you a chance to race in the heat for a change. All water stops will have iced water and Gatorade to keep the core temp down and allow you to race your best.
There is a 10K Team entry category so sign up with your friends and go after one of the 2-deep team winner sets of awards. Times of the first (5) team members counts for the cumulative team time. There will also be awards for the team with the most members. No duplication of team awards.
Team members are also eligible for individual awards.
3-Race Series Event:
Sizzler 10K is the first series event.
Sept 27th:
Oktoberfest 15K is the second event
Nov 8th:
Battleship Half Marathon is the final 3-race series event.
Work your way up to your best Half Marathon and earn an awesome 28.6 Finisher Medal!!

The race benefits the NHRMC Foundation's Pink Ribbon Project to help patients with their fight against breast cancer during and after treatment. There is a Pink Ribbon 5K Team entry category with part of each entry fee going to the Pink Ribbon Project.
The event is walker and stroller friendly.
The Summer Sizzler 10K & 5K start on Lake Shore Drive and finish at the Wilmington Athletic Club.

Parking: Halfway between the Start and Finish in the medical complex on the right side of the road after you pass the WAC on the driveway. The Start and Finish are about 300 meters apart.
Shirts are very nice soft cotton shirts with the full color Sizzler logo on them! Shirts are guaranteed if you register before July 28th. We will order lots of extra shirts but shirts are not guaranteed if you register after that date.
You can do this!! Run Greenfield Lake in August so you can tell your Grand kids about it!
