Join us for this 4th annual race benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association in honor of our friend, Henry! We are collecting monetary donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (proceeds from entry fees also go to MDA) and non-perishable food items for the Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry!
Overall male and female winners will receive Tom's Farm Market pies, a $75 Running Depot gift certificate, a Henry's Hustle water bottle, and a first place finisher's ribbon. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place age group winners will receive a Henry's Hustle water bottle and age group placement finisher's ribbons.
The top three male and top three female in each of the following age groups will receive age group placement ribbons: Under 16, 17-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-54, 55-64, 65 and over.
The post-race party will take place indoors at the Marlowe Middle School Gymnasium beginning at 8:20am. Music from Spin N Play DJ's, kids games, post-race food, Starbucks coffee, Thanksgiving treats, awards, and much more! Male and female winners of the 5K will receive a pumpkin pie! All participants will be entered to win raffle prizes from Kopf Running and more to be announced!
Location of Start/Finish Area
Marlowe Middle School, 9625 Haligus Rd, Lake in the Hills, IL 60156. Run/Walk and Kids Dash will begin near the West entrance to the school (on the back of the building), but parking is only permitted in the main parking lot (on the East side of the building).
Plenty of participant and spectator parking will be available in the Marlowe Middle School East parking lot. Volunteers will direct you in from Haligus Road.
Required Age to Participate
Fun Run/Walk participants must be 5 years or older for the 5K run/walk, and Kids Dash participants must be 12 months or older. All participants under the age of 18 must have a parent register them via online or in person registration.
Yes! Notice there are options during registration with timing (5K run) and without timing (5K walk and Kids Dash).
Strollers are welcome. No pets please. No skateboards, rollerblades, or scooters please.

Henry Betts is our 4 year old friend who has muscular dystrophy. Specifically, Henry has Merosin-deficient CMD - also called MDC1A. This type causes early-onset weakness and low muscle tone. Some with this type learn to walk at age 2-3 years. Common issues include spinal curvature, contractures, respiratory impairment, and seizures in about 20% of those with this type. Intelligence is often normal. Below is a note from Henry's parents, Stephanie and Jon, describing their journey with Henry so far.

About Kopf Running
Henry's Hustle is presented by Kopf Running, an endurance training company that provides customized training programs to individuals of all ages and levels. Our goal is to create a more healthy, happy community through physical activity! Free group run/walk every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm at Sunset Park in Lake in the Hills. Certified running coaches also create race training programs personalized to each individual runner. They are are easy to follow -- for both the beginner runner and experienced runner alike.
