The format is the same as last year, two races at Sunset Park: the Open event or “citizen’s race” at 6:45 a.m. and the Seeded/Team race at 7:30, (or immediately following the last Open finisher).
Instead of age-group medals we’re be presenting special commemorative 21st Annual ceramic beverage cups to age group winners based on the number of entries in each of the eight age groups. For example, since our largest age group for this event is always our Youth 2 (15-19), I expect to go 10 deep this year in that age group.
Last year we had 256 finishers in the two races which was our second biggest turnout ever (there were 263 total finishers in 2015). We had 19 teams entered in the Seeded/Team race, plus a number of “unattached” speedsters. You can enter via active.com, but if you plan to enter a team contact me for info. re. team rates.
Even if you don’t plan to run, come on out to Sunset Park on August 5th and be a part of the celebration of Legends. Our new Legends, Class of 2016, will be welcomed as well as past Legends such as Brent Bowers (’78 State Champion), Abby Miller Zeldin (4X State Champion), and two-time race winners Solomon Bennett, and Amanda Gramly Henriques

All entrants receive a custom “21st Annual Legends of Cross Country” t-shirt.
First 50 male and first 50 female finishers in both 5K races receive medals.
Awards to 1st and 2nd male and female Overall based on composite times from both events.
Age Group Awards to top two finishers in seven divisions of 5K:
Children (0-13) Youth-1 (14-19) Open (20-29)
Sub-Masters (30-39) Masters (40-49) Seniors (50-59) Super-Seniors (60 & Over).

Team Competition
Three Divisions: Male, Female, Mixed (at least 2 men and 2 women)
Trophy to winning team in each division.
Teams consist of 5-7 (max five of each gender).
Scoring based on total time of top-5 (at least 2 men and 2 women for Mixed teams)

To enter as a Seeded "Unattached" you must meet 5K qualifying times (exemptions granted for Seniors/Super Seniors)
Seeded Open Men—sub 18:00; Seeded Masters Men—sub 20:00;
Seeded Open Women—sub 22:00 Seeded Masters Women—sub 24:00.

Seeded Individuals are eligible for awards as shown above, based on composite times from Open 5K and Seeded 5K.
