2024 LOPPET VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

REGISTRATION AND CHECK-IN FRIDAY
Friday, February 23, 3 pm-7 pm at the CMC Climax Building. Assist race participants in registering on computers provided by the timers. Hand out race bibs, greet racers, and provide event information.

REGISTRATION AND CHECK-IN SATURDAY
February 24, 6 am-12:30 pm Saturday, February 24, 5:30 am-7:45 am. Race-day registration for 22K & 44K races. This will be a busy time with racers picking up bibs, last-minute registrations, etc. Saturday, February 24, 7:45 am-12:00. Race-day registration for 10K & 5K races. Assist with bib pick-up, last-minute registrations, providing event information, etc. Registration Contact: Steve McCauley

Need skiers willing to work any portion of the day to help with the following work items. Must be able to ski & familiar with the CMC trails and Mineral Belt Trail. Race in Progress Signs:
Volunteer to place “ Race in Progress ” signs at all trail access locations. Must be in place by 8 am. This is vehicle work, no skiing is necessary. Get signs from Loretta. 44K, 22K, 10K Course Contact: Loretta McEllhiney 719-293-3151

Course set-up 6:30 am-8:30 am:
Volunteers must be able to read a map & be very familiar with the various racecourses. Numerous trails need to be signed and others need to be blocked off. One error and all racers will be sent onto the wrong route. Volunteers must be willing to communicate & be detail-oriented, no guessing allowed! 44K, 22K, 10K Course Contact: Loretta McEllhiney 719-293-3151

Course Marshals for 44K, 22K, & 10K races. 8:00 am-2:00 pm.:
Need sturdy volunteers who are prepared to be out in the elements for most of the day. Must be on skis, and bring water, food, warm clothing, etc. to spend the day out on the trail. 44K, 22K, 10K Course Contact: Loretta McEllhiney 719-293-3151

Course Clean-Up: 2:00 – 4:00:
Need volunteers to ski sections of the trails and collect all the course markers, signs, and any trash. Volunteers will need a large backpack and the ability to ski with an unwieldy pack full of materials. For sections of the MBT, it helps if you have someone who can shuttle you to a start point and pick you up at a different trailhead with the materials, then transport the materials to the drop-off point at CMC. All materials will be taken to the CMC Climax Building by 4:00 pm. Course Clean-up contact: Loretta McEllhiney 719-293-3151

Need volunteers to help set up tables, serve food, hand out awards, clean up, etc. 12:00-4:00 in the CMC Climax Building. Drawing for prizes on 20 Leadville History questions. Awards Ceremony Contact: unknown Help with the 5K & 1K Races 5K & 1K Organizer: Darcy Kimball Course Marshals for 5K race. 12:00-2:00. Need volunteers out on the course directing skiers. These volunteers will need to be on skis & familiar with the College Trails. 5K Course Contact: Darcy Kimball
