The question was asked "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound”?
Domestic Violence is a “silent killer.” This is true only because most cases go unreported and even hidden from others. In many occurrences victims are encouraged, threatened or even coerced into remaining mute about such activity. Well, on May 11, 2019 all that changes as an anticipated 500 individuals (that’s 1,000 human feet) will pound the pavement in Niagara Falls, NY; engaging in an orderly 5k Charity Walk/Run, harmonically synchronized to raise the decibel level of recognition for the [once] voiceless with every footstep taken.
I Have A Voice is a collaboration of various organizations from both Buffalo NY and Niagara Falls NY that have come together to engage in this 5K Charity Walk. This Walk is to help fight against, and promote awareness to Domestic Violence in Niagara Falls, NY and surrounding areas. We are dedicated to providing support and motivation to the men, women, and children that have been abused through traumatizing experiences such as domestic violence, rape, molestation, and child abuse.
Our partners have created, platforms to educate women, men and young people about the severity of Domestic Violence and its effects. We are lending our VOICE with the many, and for the many that want to scream, yell, or express the pain they have endured, but most importantly release it. We all have a voice. No More silence!
