Please join us on Saturday July 27, 2019 at noon for the Innaugural Outdoor Adventure Race (O.A.R.) being brought to you by Niagara Outfitters in conjuction with the GI Paddles Up Summerfest and Greenway Commission.
This event is in conjunction with Paddles Up Niagara, but designed to be more competitive! This is a sprint style adventure race featuring a 3K kayak paddle (view 3K paddle course map) followed by a 5k run (view 5K run course map)! Compete with a friend as a team or do both events as an individual. Prizes will be awarded across a variety of categories.
This is a great race for the beginner adventure racer, but watch out once you start, you just can’t stop! Due to the competitive nature of this event and the Upper Niagara River, this event is open to ages 16 and up. Kayaks will be available to rent from Blue Water Marina and Niagara Outfitters, or bring your own! Reservations for kayaks are strongly recommended. Call Libby at 716-545-2143. The race will start in the water at the beach near shelter 2B at 12 pm.
There will be a shotgun start at Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island, New York beginning at noon. Participants will start out in the water with the paddle and then transition to the run upon completion of the required paddle. The running part of the race will take place on both grass and asphalt.
